Why this matters.
Contractor estimates and carrier scopes almost never line up — different structure, different item order, different terminology — so reconciling them means rebuilding both documents by hand
Supplement requests arrive with a total and little justification; deciding whether the ask is fair means manually pricing each disputed line against the local market
Line-by-line review takes the same hours whether the claim is routine or contested, and the time simply does not scale when volume spikes
Disputes drag on because each side distrusts the other’s numbers — and there is no neutral document both can look at
How EstimateHawk solves it.
AI reads both documents — Xactimate-style repair estimates, contractor PDFs, spreadsheets, or photos — and extracts every line item into one normalized side-by-side matrix
Items present in one estimate but missing from the other are flagged automatically, each priced against market data indexed by project type and zip code
Price variance flags show where a line deviates significantly from the group or from market pricing, so you can support or challenge a number with data instead of opinion
The comparison is independent by design — EstimateHawk takes no money from contractors or insurers — so the report can be shared with the other side of a claim as a neutral reference
What you get.
Frequently asked.
- Does EstimateHawk work with Xactimate estimates?
- Yes. Upload Xactimate-style repair estimates as PDF exports alongside contractor quotes, restoration estimates, or spreadsheets. Itemized documents work best; clear phone photos of paper estimates can work too. Up to 5 estimates can go into a single comparison.
- Is EstimateHawk on the carrier’s side or the policyholder’s?
- Neither. EstimateHawk is independent — it takes no money from contractors or insurers, sells no referrals, and runs the same analysis no matter who uploads the documents. That neutrality is the point: in a contested claim, the comparison is a reference both sides can look at without assuming it was built to favor the other.
- How does the market pricing work?
- Market pricing is sourced from construction cost databases and indexed by project type and zip code. Each flagged item is priced against that data, so when a contractor line is far above the carrier scope — or a carrier unit price trails the local market — you can see it and quantify it.
- Can I use it to review a supplement request?
- Yes. Upload the supplement or revised estimate alongside the original scope and the comparison shows exactly which items were added or changed, by how much, and how each addition compares to market pricing — the fastest way to separate justified supplements from padding.
