03What happens to my documents?+
Bids you upload for a free check are deleted automatically after 7 days unless you unlock the full report. We never share or sell them.
04What kinds of estimates work?+
Any written contractor bid — a PDF or a clear phone photo of a paper quote (JPG, PNG, WebP). Renovations, roofing, HVAC, kitchens, insurance repair estimates. Up to 3 bids; PDFs up to 15 pages, and a photo counts as one page. iPhone HEIC photos: pick from your photo library (it converts automatically) or set your camera to “Most Compatible”.
05How do I compare contractor quotes that all look different?+
Three steps. First, level the scope: list every line item and mark what each bid includes, excludes, or leaves unclear — most “cheap” bids are cheap because something is missing. Second, adjust each price for the missing scope so you’re ranking true cost, not sticker price. Third, send each contractor the specific questions their bid raised before you sign. 06What is bid leveling?+
Bid leveling (also called bid normalization) is the process of restating competing construction bids on the same scope baseline so they can be compared fairly. A leveled comparison marks every line item as included, excluded, or unclear in each bid, then ranks bids by scope-adjusted true cost instead of the number on the last page. Without leveling, the lowest bid often just has the most gaps.
