01Is this really free? What’s the catch?+

The check is free and needs no account. We name everything we found. The full report is a one-time $9: the quote’s exact wording with page numbers, your state’s rule where one applies, what the quote gets right, and an email with every question to send the contractor. With two or three quotes it also shows which bid stands out and the exact dollar gaps. No subscription.

02Do contractors pay you to rank higher?+

No. We take no money from contractors — no commissions, no referral fees, no paid placements. You’re the customer, so the analysis answers only to you.

03What happens to my documents?+

Quotes you upload for a free check are deleted automatically after 7 days unless you unlock the full report. We never share or sell them.

04What kinds of estimates work?+

Any written contractor bid — a PDF, a clear phone photo of a paper quote (JPG, PNG, WebP), or an Excel or CSV spreadsheet (every tab is read). Renovations, roofing, HVAC, kitchens, insurance repair estimates. One to 3 quotes; PDFs up to 100 pages, and a photo counts as one page. iPhone HEIC photos: pick from your photo library (it converts automatically) or set your camera to “Most Compatible”.

05How do I compare contractor quotes that all look different?+

Three steps. First, level the scope: list every line item and mark what each bid includes, excludes, or leaves unclear — most “cheap” bids are cheap because something is missing. Second, adjust each price for the missing scope so you’re ranking true cost, not sticker price. Third, send each contractor the specific questions their bid raised before you sign. 06What is bid leveling?+

Bid leveling (also called bid normalization) is the process of restating competing construction bids on the same scope baseline so they can be compared fairly. A leveled comparison marks every line item as included, excluded, or unclear in each bid, then ranks bids by scope-adjusted true cost instead of the number on the last page. Without leveling, the lowest bid often just has the most gaps.
